As Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 begins production, the cast is hard at work practicing marital arts.

Netflix's live-action reimagining of Nickelodeon's beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender was a big success when it premiered earlier this year. While it wasn't without its critics, especially due to drastic changes from the source material, the show managed to draw in legions of viewers. In fact, Netflix has already renewed the series through to the story's natural conclusion, which means we have two more seasons ahead of us.

During Geeked Week, the Avatar team announced that production on season 2 is officially underway. The new batch of episodes will cover 'Book 2, Earth,' in which Aang (Gordon Cormier) and his friends Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) head to Ba Sing Se — the capital of the Earth Kingdom. The season will also introduce fan-favorite earth-bender Toph Beifong, played by Miya Cech.

In a recent behind-the-scenes image, the cast shared that they're back together, scripts in hand, and ready to head deeper into the Earth Kingdom.

Ahead of jumping back in front of the cameras, the Gaang have been hard at work perfecting their martial arts skills. In this world, characters are able to "bend" elements like air, water, fire and earth, and each bending still is based on a different martial art. For instance, air-bending is based on Baguazhang and water-bending is based on tai chi. Mastering these skills takes plenty of practice, and the cast members learn how to use the techniques authentically.

"We're in boot camp right now so we're working on our own characters' fighting styles. Ian is working on his specialty with weapons and I'm working on some cool wire work stuff. I'm working on improving Zuko's fire bending as well," Dallas Liu (Zuko) said, per ComicBook.

It's nice to see the members of Team Avatar continue to master their respective arts. I can't wait to see Miya Cech in action as Toph. Her character is one of the most popular across the fandom.

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 doesn't have a release date yet. Given that it's only just entered production, don't expect to see it hit screens until sometime in 2026. In the meantime, we'll keep you updated.
