For three seasons, Henry Cavill has played professional monster hunter Geralt of Rivia on The Witcher. But come season 4, he'll be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. We don't know what that will look like yet, but many fans are loathe to accept anyone other than Cavill under the white wig.
I wonder if they would change their tune if Cavill were replaced by, say, Mads Mikkelsen, known for his work in movies like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and TV shows like Hannibal. The Danish actor has become a popular commodity over the past several years, often getting cast in villainous roles. But we can see him walking the hard path of the witcher as well. 3D artist Wonki Cho apparently thought so to. They created many images you can peruse at your leisure.
Again, this is all a visual experiment; Geralt will be played by Liam Hemsworth whenever the fourth season comes out on Netflix, probably sometime in 2025. Filming is set to take place this year.
The Witcher has come under fire from fans over the last couple of seasons, whether for straying from Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher books, feeling a bit cringey at times, or just because Henry Cavill is leaving and people don't like it. We'll see if the recasting is the new blood the show needs or its death knell.
