Welcome to your Thursday morning trailer party! Break out the streamers and settle in for a preview buffet, starting with a new teaser for Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series that shows how budding serial-killer-with-a-heart-of-gold Dexter Morgan became the man we remember from the original Showtime series. Watch it above!
Dexter: Original Sin stars relative unknown Patrick Gibson as a younger Dexter, and then surrounds him with better-known actors like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Patrick Dempsey and Christian Slater as Dexter's father Harry, who sees his son's homicidal tendencies and goes, "Okay, maybe we can work with this." And original Dexter star Michael C. Hall provides Dexter's inner monologue.
The original Dexter show ended back in 2013, but the franchise has been hopping lately. Just a couple of years ago, Hall returned to the title role for a sequel show called Dexter: New Blood. That series ended with Dexter dead, but somehow they're going forward with another sequel called Dexter: Resurrection, which is set to come out in the summer of 2025. Sure, why not? As for Dexter: Original Sin, it premieres on Showtime and Paramount+ on December 13.
Watch the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance
Sticking with series about brutal killers, the third and final Venom movie is on the way, starring Tom Hardy as a puny human who merges with a violent alien symbiote. But then they become friends and save the world. Watch the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance above.
The Venom movies have been panned pretty much across the board by critics but have proven popular at the box office, the first two having taken in well over a billion dollars combined. For this third and final movie, series writer Kelly Marcel will make her directorial debut. She also wrote the movie, obviously.
in this one, Eddie and Venom will fight against something named Knull, a villain so spooky even the symbiotes are loathe to say his name out loud. Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25.
Richard Madden stars as criminal twins in Killer Heat on Prime Video
Finally, check out the trailer for Killer Heat, based on the novel The Jealousy Man by Jo Nesbø. Game of Thrones veteran Richard Madden plays twin brothers Leo and Elias Vardakis, whose powerful familiy controls the island of Crete. When Leo is mysterious killed, Elias' wife Penelope (Shailene Woodley) calls in private detective Nick Ball (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) to investigate.
It's a crime thriller, it's a sunny Greek vacation, it's a pulpy soap opera involving twins. It's Killer Heat, and it's coming to Prime Video on September 26.
