Disney debuts first footage of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, The Mandalorian & Grogu and Andor season 2

Disney pulled the curtain back on a lot of new Star Wars stuff at its D23 event, including some stuff people are actually interested in.

Disney is in the thick of its D23 expo, where it shows off everything it has coming in the weeks and months ahead. Pixar is working on a fifth Toy Story movie and a third Incredibles movie. Marvel is prepping movies like Captain America: Brave New World and series like Daredevil: Born Again. And over in Star Wars land, we'll soon be watching a new series on Disney+ called Skeleton Crew, about a group of kids who find themselves aboard a spaceship and blasted into far corners of the galaxy. With the help of a friendly bloke named Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law, they must find their way back home.

So clearly Disney is going for some kind of Stranger Things-meets-Star Wars thing here, and who can blame them? Skeleton Crew will premiere on December 3.

Of all the Star Wars projects Disney has on its docket, Skeleton Crew is probably the one that people are least interested in; it might be great, don't get me wrong, but it's uncharted territory. Although they didn't release the footage officially (which means we won't embed it here), Disney also showed off advance looks at The Mandalorian & Grogu, the highly anticipated movie version of The Mandalorian; and of Andor season 2, which will conclude the much-praised Star Wars show about the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Again, they haven't released that footage officially, but you can click the links in this paragraph to watch it on Twitter. Just don't tell anybody.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be in theaters on May 22, 2026. We don't yet have an exact release date for Andor season 2, but it's due out sometime early in 2025. That's probably the Star Wars thing I'm most excited about.
