2) Fëanor - Cillian Murphy

All I should have to do to justify Cillian Murphy having this role is to point to his performance as Julius Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's 2023 epic, Oppenheimer. But for those who haven't watched Murphy's best work, I'll get into a bit more detail.

Murphy, with those piercing blue eyes and flair for playing intense, brooding characters, is a match made in cinematic heaven for the role of Fëanor, the most passionate and talented of the Elven craftsmen The Silmarillion; he's responsible for making the three Silmarils, jewels so spectaularly beautiful they start a centuries-long war between Morgoth and the elves. As Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders, Murphy played a complex, driven man, a leader who was both loved and feared. Now picture that same intensity, that same fire in his eyes, but in Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Fëanor is a character creates the Silmarils out of pure love and artistic genius. But his work also becomes an obsession. Murphy has proven he can portray that kind of inner conflict; think of his role as Robert Fischer in Inception, where he played a gifted man tormented by his father's legacy. Murphy has a unique ability to make you feel his character's inner battles, their burning desires, and their hidden vulnerabilities. He'll need it to do right by Fëanor.

Fëanor is a brilliant craftsman, a loving son, a proud father, and later, a vengeful warrior. Murphy has shown time and again that he can switch gears effortlessly. Think of him in Dunkirk, where he portrayed a shell-shocked soldier; it was a powerful performance that showed his vast range. With his proven track record of bringing depth and uniqueness to every role, Murphy would be a pristine fit for Fëanor.
