Energy swords aplenty in the trailer for Halo season 2 on Paramount+
Halo is coming back for a second season on Paramount+. Don't believe me? Watch the trailer above, and you will know it to be true.
Halo is based on the video game series of the same name, about a sci-fi war between humanity and a collective of space aliens known as the Covenant. But the game series is mostly about the player blasting their way through corridors and fragging their friends. The show has had to expand on the lore of the games, and dig into the personality of lead character Master Chief, who in the games spends the great majority of time with his face completely obscured by a helmet. On the show, Master Chief is played by Pablo Schreiber, and we see his face all the time (and in one memorable moment from the first season, his bare butt).
The trailer looks pretty good to me -- the special effects are there, the action looks thick and the drama intense -- but it's an open question whether Paramount+ can get enough people interested in this show to be worth the cost. The first season found its fans but fell well short of becoming a phenomenon. Will the second get more play? We'll find out how high Halo can fly when season 2 premieres on February 8. The first episodes will drop at once.
