Castlevania: Nocturne season 2, Netflix (2024)

Let’s run through three more adaptations that are probably coming out in 2024, although it’s possible any of these could get bumped. First up, we have the second season of Castlevania: Nocturne, itself a follow-up to the popular Castlevania anime on Netflix. This ultra-violent vampire splatter show takes inspiration from the iconic Konami series, and then builds on the foundation to produce something weirder and wilder.

Nocturne is a continuation of the original series set several generations later. The second season is announced but doesn’t have an official release date yet. We’re betting Netflix can get this one up and out there before year’s end.

Devil May Cry, Netflix (2024)

Like Castlevania, Devil May Cry is a stylish action series about hunting down demons that Netflix is adapting as an animated TV show. Producer Adi Shankar is involved in both projects, and you can tell; his signature brand of over-the-top action is all over both of these shows.

Granted, we’re basing that purely on the teaser trailer for Devil May Cry, which doesn’t have an official release date yet. For the record, this is the fifth show on our list being made by Netflix, which tells how you enthusiastic they are about the video-game-to-TV pipeline. In particular, Netflix is going all in on animated TV series based on games; it doesn’t have any live-action shows or movies on this list.

Return to Silent Hill (2024)

Silent Hill is another very old video game franchise; the first game hit the PlayStation back in 1999. Silent Hill is a horror series that often emphasizes atmosphere over gameplay, which lends itself well to onscreen adaptation. The 2006 Silent Hill movie, while by no means great, is one of the less outright embarrassing video game movies from that period.

Return to Silent Hill sees director Christophe Gans come back for a follow-up movie well over 10 years later, this time adapting the popular sequel game Silent Hill 2. A lot has changed about video game adaptations since then. The market is bigger, but the standards are also higher.

Those are all the movies and TV shows we either know are coming out in 2024 or that we can be reasonably sure are. But what does it all MEEEEEAN? That, up next:
