Final season of The Umbrella Academy officially coming out on August 8

The fourth, final, shorter-than-usual season of The Umbrella Academy will return to Netflix this summer.

The superpowered, dysfunctional Hargreeves siblings will reunite for one last hurrah this summer. Netflix has revealed that The Umbrella Academy will return for its fourth and final season on August 8.

The Umbrella Academy has been the little superhero show that could these past few years; it never had the backing of any of the Marvel shows over on Disney+, but it had a lot of heart, a very quirky sense of humor (one of the villains was an intelligent goldfish in a fishbowl attached to the head of a guy), and a passionate fanbase. The third season wasn't quite as strong as the first two, but I'm glad the show is getting a chance to go out on its own terms.

The fourth season of The Umbrella Academy will be the shortest. The first three seasons had 10 episodes apiece, but season 4 will only have six episodes. But hey, at least there is a final season. Not all Netflix shows are so lucky.

Marvel's Thunderbolts movie will come out sooner than expected

As long as we're talking about superheroes and release dates, IGN reports that Thunderbolts — a Marvel movie featuring a group of antiheroes getting together to take down...someone even worse, I'm sure — will be coming out on May 2, 2025.

That's earlier than expected. Thunderbolts was originally going to come out in theaters on July 25, 2025, but that slot is now taken by Marvel's Fantastic Four movie, which just revealed its core cast. Marvel's 2025 is coming together.

As for 2024, the only Marvel movie scheduled is Deadpool & Wolverine, but given how hyped people are for that one, it's probably enough.

Check out new images from Joker: Folie à Deux

Finally, let's check in on Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to 2019's tremendously popular Joker. We don't have a new release date for this one — it's still coming on October 4 of this year — but we do have some new images courtesy of director Todd Phillips:

Joaquin Phoenix will return as Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, and Lady Gaga will join the cast as Harley Quinn, the codependent love of his life. The movie will apparently be a musical, which sounds just weird enough to work if you ask me.
