Finally, it's confirmed that Vox Machina season 3 is coming out this fall
By Dan Selcke
The Legend of Vox Machina is an animated action series set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons, where a party of mismatched heroes wander the planet having adventures. The show is based on the first campaign mounted by Critical Role, a collective of voice actors who streamed their D&D adventures to the delight of millions at home. The first two seasons were a lot of fun, and it was nice that fans didn't have to wait eons between new episodes; the first season aired in 2022 and the second in 2023. There's a new season on the way, but we've heard precious little about the release date. Might Vox Machina break its streak?
No. Critical Role CEO Travis Willingham confirmed on X that season 3 is coming this year. "LVM Season 3 coming this Fall!" he wrote. "Ya'll, it's so good..."
Vox Machina feels like a traditional D&D campaign, with characters that will probably feel familiar to anyone who has plumbed a dungeon or fought a dragon. There's the quippy bard Scanlan Shorthalt, the thick-headed warrior Grog Strongjaw, stylish elvish siblings Vax’ildan and Vex’ahlia, and so on. They're brought to life with lots of energy by actors like Ashley Johnson, who played the role of Ellie in The Last of Us video games.
The Critical Role empire has grown mightily since this troupe first started streaming back in 2015. In addition to The Legend of Vox Machina, Amazon is also making a TV show out of their second campaign, The Mighty Nein. They're now on their third campaign, Hell's Bells, which could well get a TV show of its own sooner or later. They've even launched their own streaming service, Beacon.
But at least on TV, The Legend of Vox Machina remains their foundation, so it's good to see that they're commited to rolling out new episodes. We don't have an exact release date for season 3 yet, but "fall" will do for now.
