This weekend, Disney shared a lot of information at its D23 conference, giving fans their first looks at a lot of big new shows and movies coming down the pike. Mind you, while fans who were actually at the conference, got to see this stuff, the rest of us will have to go without until Disney releases something official...but that doesn't mean you can't find the relevant footage if you search the internet hard enough.
Let's focus here on all the new Marvel things coming up. Disney has scored a monster hit with Deadpool & Wolverine, which is close to crossing the billion-dollar mark at the box office. For the first time in a while, there's a lot of hype about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Can Disney keep that up? You be the judge.
One of the biggest trailers showed off at D23 was for Daredevil: Born Again, the revival of the Netflix Daredevil series starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio. The cast is back together for this continuation, and a lot of them showed up to debut new footage at D23. Jon Bernthal, who plays the Punisher, said it was "a real honor" to be back. "I couldn’t be up here with better people.”
Daredevil: Born Again is due out in March 2025. Again, Disney hasn't officially released the trailer, but it's out there anyway.
Another big movie is The Fantastic Four: First Steps, starring the likes of Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. The trailer, which again isn't technically out but still available to view if you go hunting, makes it looks like Marvel is taking a somewhat campy, over-the-top approach with this one. The movie is due out in 2025.
Then there's Ironheart, a long-in-the-making Disney+ TV show about an MIT student who reverse-engineers her own Iron Man-esque suit of fighting, flying armor. Same old story: no official trailer, and yet one exists. The show will premiere next year.
And just to include at least one official trailer in the list, enjoy a new one for the WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along, which is coming out on Disney+ September 18:
Disney also provided updates on several animated series in the works, although it stopped short of providing hard release dates. The third and final season of alternate reality show What If...? will feature Moon Knight, the What If...? spinoff Marvel Zombies will feature Sima Liu reprising his role as Shang-Chi, Eyes of Wakanda will expand on the world of Black Panther, and the second season of X-Men '97 is in the works.
So Marvel Studios is working hard to get you interested. Whether it works is up to you.
