Bill Skarsgård has carved out a reputation for being a creepy action hero. His biggest break came when he played Pennywise the dancing, child-eating clown in the IT movies, and since then it's been onwards and upwards. Skarsgård starred in the horror movie Barbarian, the action movie Boy Kills World, played one of John Wick's many victims in John Wick 4, and will play Count Orlock, one of the original movie monsters, in a remake of Nosferatu. He's our new Boris Karloff! Our new Andy Serkis!

Sticking to his brand, Skarsgård will soon play lead character Eric Draven in a remake of The Crow, the 1994 action movie about a rock musician who is brutally killed and returns from the dead decked out in creepy face paint to take revenge on the people who did this to him. In terms of aesthetics, The Crow was very much in conversation with books like The Sandman, movies like The Matrix and bands like My Chemical Romance, all of which were pioneering what would become the emo look. It's a perfect role for Skarsgård.

Meanwhile, British musician FKA twigs will play Eric's fiancée Shelly Webster, who is hurt in the same attack that kills Eric and later dies from her injuries. Here they are in better times:

In the 1994 movie, Eric was played by Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, who famously died on set during a stunt gone wrong. Happily, nothing like that has happened on the set of the remake, which drops in theaters on June 7.

Next. Ian McShane. Ian McShane thought the backlash to his Game of Thrones comments was "ridiculous". dark
