Game of Thrones star Nell Tiger Free admits she's never seen the show

For many years, Game of Thrones was the most popular show on the planet. Even now, the franchise is still very much alive, with House of the Dragon season 2 airing in a couple of months and more spinoff projects on the way. Despite being around for so long, there are still members of the cast who've never watched it. The latest to admit to never watching the beloved series is Nell Tiger Free.
Tiger Free played Princess Myrcella Baratheon, the only daughter of Cersei and Jaime Lannister (don't tell King Robert), in the fifth season of the show, where her character was in Dorne living with the Martells. Her role was pretty significant, and massively affected Jamie Lannister's story in particular. Yet all these years later, she hasn't felt compelled to watch the show. “I’ll be honest with you – confession time, conventional booth: I have never seen the show,” she said while appearing on The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham. “I have never see ‘Game of Thrones.’ You look so shocked.”
Free was only 14 when she filmed the show, so it's possible she was discouraged from watching this famously violent show at the time. That said, she wasn't completely left in the dark. She knew key elements of her story — that Jamie Lannister was her father, for instance. “I filmed that bit, so I did know that,” she said.
This isn't an uncommon occurance. Many beloved Game of Thrones actors aren't too invested in the franchise beyond their roles. Some examples include Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), who still hasn't seen House of the Dragon, while both Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) have yet to watch the show's final season.
As a young actress, Nell Tiger Free was thrown right into the deep end on Game of Thrones. “I didn’t really understand what i was doing, like, I didn’t really understand what was going on,” she said of her experience on set. “I just thought that this is what every situation was like. That there’s like 200 day players at all times and eight cameras. I was like, ‘This is normal. This is what it will be like.’”
Her baptism by fire helped kickstart her career. She's now landing some huge roles. Look no further than The First Omen, the sixth film in The Omen franchise, which is out in cinemas now! Free plays the lead role of Margaret, a young woman who works in an orphanage.
