The second season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon premieres sometime this summer on HBO and Max. We already have a trailer (or teaser trailer, if you're sensitive to those sorts of fine distinctions) with gorgeous, fully completed completed footage, so we know things are well on the way.
But there are still hurdles to clear. According to House of the Dragon source @housethedragons, an "inside source" has told them that reshoots will be happen in February.
Reshoots are a very common occurrence in film and TV, so if you're worried that this suggests trouble behind the scenes of House of the Dragon, I don't think you need to worry. A season of TV gets filmed, producers look over the footage, get ideas for things to tweak or add, and then they call back a select group of cast and crew members to make it happen. Maybe they realized there was a gap in exposition, or maybe a few pick-up shots to make clear what's going on in a certain scene. Usually reshoots involve those sorts of scenes, not full-on dragon battles. But you never know.
The reshoots are probably part of the reason HBO has yet to announce a firm release date for House of the Dragon season 2. We know it's coming out this summer but haven't been able to narrow it down beyond that. We'll stay tuned.
