It's Anya Taylor-Joy vs Chris Hemsworth in full trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

The full trailer for Furiosa, a prequel the 2015's blast-out-the-back-of-your-head action movie Fury Road, looks better than the teaser trailer we got a while back.

Mad Max: Fury Road may very well be my favorite movie of the past 10 years. A sci-fi action movie set in director George Miller's post-apocalytic Mad Max universe, it was essentially one long car chase through a desert hellscape and I loved every minute of it. Remember the guy shredding guitar on the front of the one war mobile? Remember the dudes on long poles getting dipped in and out of moving vehicles, much of it filmed in real time with stunt people? That movie's insane.

So I'm pretty interested in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, awkward subtitle notwithstanding. This prequel movie will follow the character of Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron in the original movie and Anya Taylor-Joy as the younger version, as she's plucked from her idyllic home as a child by a warlord named Dementus, played by Chris "Guy Who Plays Thor in Marvel" Hemsworth. Judging by the full trailer, which you can watch above, she strikes a deal with the warlord Immortan Joe — the villain from the first movie — to get revenge on Dementus, which could explain why she's still working for Joe in Fury Road.

I think the trailer looks really good, and has the kind of absurdity I expect from a prequel to Fury Road; points must be given for the chariot pulled by motorcycles and Chris Hemsworth bellowing like a psychopath. And the whole thing looks less shiny and waxy than the original trailer released a few months back:

Finally, if you're wondering, that little guitar lick they keep playing in the new trailer is from "The Man Who Sold The World" by David Bowie. That was bugging me. Furiosa comes out in theaters on Friday, May 24.

dark. Next. Star Wars. "Someone is killing Jedi" in first trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte
