Jace, Helaena, Baela and other House of the Dragon characters get new posters
By Dan Selcke
Back in March, HBO released some glossy new posters for the upcoming second season of its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. The posters spotlighted some of the major players about to go to war over the Iron Throne, including Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, her rival and half-brother Aegon, her husband and uncle Daemon Targaryen, her best frenemy Alicent Hightower and more.
But House of the Dragon is an ensemble show, and fans wanted their favorites represented. Where was Rhaenyra's eldest son Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett), who's earnestly trying to help his mother ascend the Iron Throne? What about Daemon's daughters Baela and Rhaena Targaryen (Bethany Antonia and Phoebe Campbell), the first of whom has a dragon of her own and the second of whom really wants one? What about King Aegon's scheming grandfather Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) or the foot fetishist spymaster Larys Strong (Matthew Needham)?
Well, HBO is making up for lost time with a bunch of new posters featuring these and other characters. Check them out below, starting with Otto and Larys, who are both scheming their hearts out to make sure Aegon remains on the Iron Throne:
Aegon's supporters are known as the Greens. Those who support Rhaenyra are the Blacks, and include her son Jace as well as the shady information broker Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno):
Daemon's daughters Baela and Rhaena are also on Team Rhaenyra:
And finally, King Aegon's wife and sister Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban) gets her own poster, which almost seems mean. Helanea is going to have a very tough time in season 2, at least give her a friend on her poster.
We'll see these and many other characters old and new in action when House of the Dragon returns for its second season on HBO and Max on Sunday, June 16.
