Prime Video's The Boys is a superhero series like no other. It subverts the genre in the most surprising ways; it's gruesome, crude, and shows us things weren't sure were allowed on television. The story is pretty amazing too, which keeps viewers coming back for more every season. Prime Video recently released the trailer for season 4:

Star Jack Quaid (Hughie) will return in the new season. It goes without saying that he's very excited for fans to see what's in store. Speaking to Collider, he rhapsodized about the new episodes, citing season 4 as his "favorite season that we’ve ever done."

In season 3, The Boys aired some of its most memorable moments, from that Termite scene to the infamous Herogasm. According to Quaid, thins just get crazier. "The writers have topped themselves. There are those moments that are big and explosive and gross and insane, and there’s stuff that tops even the craziest stuff that we did last season, if you can believe that."

It's not just the gory scenes, though. Quaid is particularly impressed with the way the scripts came together. "And then, every character is so much more well-drawn and the material they’re writing for everybody is just unbelievable. Personally, this is some of my favorite Hughie material that I’ve ever worked with," he added.

Of course, there's no certainty that Hughie will survive the season. Plot armor is precarious at best in The Boys. Showrunner Eric Kirpke doesn't even warn the cast of any shock twists. So Quaid is always a little worried:

""He doesn’t tell us a lot, so maybe it would be a surprise. I am worried a lot. No one really seems to be safe, and the show is really good at surprising you. I don’t know. It’s crazy. I don’t necessarily know who’s gonna make it out alive at the end of every season, and I love that. It terrifies me, but I love that. There’s always that question. It’s very interesting.""

As for whether The Boys will return for another season, we already know it's been renewed for season 5. "I don’t know how much of that I can reveal necessarily, but obviously we wanna keep doing the show as long as possible. So, they say jump, I say how high."

The Boys returns for season 4 June 13 on Prime Video.
