Linda Hamilton says Stranger Things 5 is "different from anything else" she's done

Terminator veteran Linda Hamilton is joining the action in the fifth and final season of Netflix's Stranger Things, in a role she says is ""different from anything else" she's ever done in her career. The '80s icon — and Terminator's beloved Sarah Connor — is a perfect fit for the show, and Hamilton is very much relishing the moment.
Hamilton's Stranger Things character is currently shrouded in mystery. Is she a hero? Is she a villain? Another denizen of the Upside Down? We don't know. But we do know that Hamilton is a huge fan of the show, and she's gonna put absolutely everything into the role. “I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” she told Netflix back when announcing her involvement in the show.

More recently, io9 spoke to Hamilton about Stranger Things, where she detailed her feelings about joining such a phenomenon series as well as her experience on set. Specifically, she said starring in the show is "altogether different from anything else I’ve done."
There was certainly a sense of imposter syndrome, stepping into a world that's so engrained in pop culture. "I really felt like, [is] there a place for me in that show? Having watched it for four seasons and loving it so much – I thought, I don’t belong there. That’s their world,” she explained.
Despite the daunting prospect of stepping into the series, she's making the absolute most of the opportunity. "It’s really interesting [to] try to insert yourself in a story that you know very well," she said, adding that she's been welcomed into the project with open arms. "We’re making it work. I’m delighted and having a wonderful time on that show. They’ve created a good place for me. And I’m going to run with it."
Stranger Things season 5 only started filming in January. Don't expect it to premiere this year, but 2025 seems like a sensible estimate.
