Dune: Part Two was a big hit for Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this year. There's a third Dune movie on the way, but WBD has lots of other ideas for how to milk this series. Later this year, they're premiering Dune: Prophecy, a six-episode miniseries set thousands of years before the Dune story we know. Paul Atreides won't be born for generations yet. We'll see the formation of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood and get to know characters like Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams), Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and Desmond Hard (Travis Fimmel). The Max Twitter account just gave us an advance look at Fimmel, a veteran of Vikings, in the role of Desmond:

As the tweet says, Dune: Prophecy is coming out in November. Neat. However, this actually isn't the first version of this tweet. Before they deleted it, I saw a version that had a specific release date: November 14.

Did HBO release the official release date for Dune: Prophecy early and then delete the evidence, or was the November 14 date wrong? Hopefully the former; more fun that way.

Dune is bursting out all over today. In addition to the Dune: Prophecy tidbit, Funcom released a gameplay trailer for its upcoming video game Dune: Awakening, a massively multiplayer affair that will find players trying to survive on the harsh desert surface of the planet Arrakis. Build alliances, stick to the shadows, and make sure to randomize your walk unless you want to be swallowed up by a sandworm.

Dune: Awakening is coming to PC early in 2025 and to PlayStation and XBox after that. Dune: Part Three is targeting a December 2026 release in theaters, and Dune: Prophecy...well, we can't say for sure, but we know what we saw. In any case, I'm interested to see if this big bet on all things Dune pays off.
