Everyone knows that the DC Cinematic Universe has had its ups and downs. Things got off to a fairly strong start in 2013 with Man of Steel, which starred Henry Cavill in the title role, but by the time we got to Justice League, something had gone awry. The DCU puttered along with movies like The Flash and Shazam! Fury of the Gods until Warner Bros. Discovery decided to pull the plug on the whole thing and start over, time assigning Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran with rebuilding the whole thing from the ground up.

Their first big project will be Superman: Legacy, which will star 30-year-old American actor David Corenswet in the role of Clark Kent. He'll have lots of company, including Firefly veteran Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, one of many characters who over the years have taken up the mantle of the Green Lantern. Over the weekend, Fillion told ET Online that the first table read for Superman: Legacy was taking place next week, which by this point may mean this week. Naturally, he's "excited" for audiences to see what Gunn and company have in store.

Superman: Legacy will feature a number of other familiar faces from Superman lore, including The Righteous Gemstones star Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel veteran Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. "Feisty, dare I say, marvelous, and fiercely intelligent," Brosnahan said of her character. "[W]e're excited to both put our own spin on things but also honor this material that we all love so much."

In addition to that lot, the movie will also star Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Barry star Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and House of the Dragon alum MIlly Alcock as Supergirl. Some fans have looked at that lineup and wondered if Superman is going to be the star of his own movie, but we'll reserve judgment until we see it for ourselves.

Photos show Superman: Legacy star David Corenswet before and after superhero training

Speaking of Superman, photos of actor David Corenswet showing what he looked like before and after his superhero training have been spreading online. He has yet to don the iconic red-and-blue outfit in public, but even dressed in baggy shirts and pants, it's clear he's bulked up quite a bit.

We'll probably start seeing more of all of these people quite soon. Superman: Legacy is due out in theaters on July 11, 2025.
