Outlander fans are feeling conflicted over Jamie and Claire's hair in the final season

In recent days, leaked photos from the set of Outlander's eighth and final season have been making the rounds. Fans have gotten a sneak peek at what might be going on, including Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) new looks.

Naturally, they have aged since whatever events transpired by the end of Season 7, and to reflect that, they are looking a bit older than what some of us would like. With the age changes reflected in hairstyle, makeup, and costume, some fans aren't exactly eager or excited over the changes.

What fans are saying about Jamie and Claire's transformation in Season 8—especially Jamie

Over the seasons, I feel that Claire's transformation has always been beautiful and elegant. She is truly an individual who has aged in such an excellent way. Looking at the leaked photos, that still appears to be the case in Season 8.

However, Jamie's transformation is looking slightly different. While Jamie's hair is usually pulled back and tied into a pony, in the final season, he's letting his hair free and wild. His hair seems to be flowing and is no longer held back by anything.

Redditors were quick to share their thoughts and opinions regarding these changes, with one fan stating, "OMG Jamie's half ponytail is giving me all the feels." However, that fan also said, "I adore Caitriona and Claire is awesome but why oh why does she look like a school marm? I don't mind the white hair, I mean that's power right there, but does she have to look old enough to be Jamie's mother? When this is all over we need to get the lowdown on the wigs."

Other fans stated they loved Claire's hair, and were adamant about embracing old age.

It seems like a lot of people feel that Claire has been made to look too old and is looking more like Jamie's mother than his wife. Maybe, just maybe, they got a bit too crazy with the hair graying in the wig this time around, but I don't think that will pull us away from or ruin the story in any capacity.

Plus we have to remember, these are leaked photos and we don't really know the context of the story, what is going on, and why there might be such a discrepancy between the two. Or maybe it is a blunder by the makeup department. Whatever the case is, I think that the quality of the final season will depend on more than just the color of the wigs.
