Outlander Season 7A is now available on Netflix in Canada. Will the U.S. be next?

Thanks to ClaireAndJamie.com, we know that Outlander Season 7A is now available on Netflix in Canada. This is great news if you live in Canada, but for viewers elsewhere in the world, it begs the question: when is it our turn?
As of now, that is unknown. All we do know is that Netflix Canada is getting the eight episodes of Season 7A in May, while others are waiting to find out when it is coming to their respective countries. Is it possible that we may not get these episodes until after the rest of season 7 premieres later this year in November? We sure hope not!
When is Outlander Season 7 coming to Netflix territories outside of Canada?
ClaireAndJamie.com explains that Netflix Canada has always had a different deal with Outlander because of location-specific licensing deals with third-party content. Since Outlander is a Starz show and not a Netflix original, things work a little differently.
As far as Netflix Canada goes, they already have the licensing needed for new episodes of Outlander. According to ClaireAndJamie.com, when the series started, Starz was not available in Canada. So the show aired on Showcase, then the W Network, where it has been ever since. After that, episodes start streaming on the Global TV App and Stack TV, and then they become available on Netflix. That's been the process since the second season of the show in Canada.
After Seasons 1 and 2, the episodes would pop up on Netflix about 11 months after it premiered on the W Network. This is another big differentiating factor because Netflix Canada follows the premiere date whereas Netlfix U.S. bases it off of the finale date of the season.
With all that said, what does it mean for U.S. fans who don't have Starz and are waiting for new episodes to appear on Netflix? Well, since Outlander season 7 is season is split into two parts, it's possible that there could be two seperate licensing agreements. If this is the case, then Netflix U.S. may get the episodes sooner rather than later. If there are not two agreements, then we may have a long wait ahead of us.
Bear in mind, Netflix U.S. gets Outlander episodes about two years after the season's finale. Yes, two years. So if they were to wait until the actual Season 7 finale which isn't going to air until 2025, then we're looking at 2027 before Netflix has the entire season in the U.S.
It all comes down to how Starz wants to handle things. It's tough to say, but either Netflix U.S. will have Season 7A episodes sooner than anticipated, or we're in for a long wait. If you're in a particular rush to watch these episodes, there is always the option of getting a Starz subscription. However, if you are the 'wait until Netflix' type of person, then it looks like you will have to hang tight until there are more updates on the licensing end.
