Percy Jackson and the Olympians release schedule and book reading order

When do new episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians come out? And in what order should you read the books by Rick Riordan?

The first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are out now on Disney+! This adaptation of Rick Riordan's book series aims to do what the pair of 2010 Percy Jackson movies couldn't: entertain people.

The first two episodes are entitled "I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher" and "I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom," both pretty self-explanatory. There are eight episodes total in this first season. Here's when you can watch the rest:

  1. Episode 3: "We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium" -- Tuesday, December 26
  2. Episode 4: "I Plunge to My Death" -- Tuesday, January 2
  3. Episode 5: "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers" -- Tuesday, January 9
  4. Episode 6: "We Take a Zebra to Vegas" -- Tuesday, January 16
  5. Episode 7: "We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of" -- Tuesday, January 23
  6. Episode 8: "The Prophecy Comes True"

After that, we could have more episodes down the line if Disney decided to renew the show for a second season. While you wait for that, you may want to read ahead by picking up the Percy Jackson books.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians reading order

Riordan actually wrote a few different series involving Percy Jackson and his friends. The first and most famous is Percy Jackson and the Olmpians. Here are the first five books in that series:

  4. The Battle of the Labyrinth
  5. The Last Olympian

After that, Riordan picked up Percy's story in the Heroes of Olympus series:

  4. The House of Hades
  5. The Blood of Olympus

Finally, just this year, Riordan wrote a brand new Percy Jackson book called The Chalice of the Gods, which picks up with Percy in high school. That's the most recent entry.
