Remix the House of the Dragon theme song and win $10,000 from Beatport

Everyone knows the Game of Thrones opening theme song. Even as you read these words, it's probably playing in your head. That's part of the reason HBO held onto the song for its prequel series House of the Dragon. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

And HBO knows how popular this song is. That's why they've teamed up with online music store Beatport for a competition. If you submit a winning remix of the theme song, you could win $10,000!

The competition works like this: head to the official website for the Beatport Presents House of the Dragon Remix Challenge. There, you can download the House of the Dragon theme song. Then you do whatever you like to it — add in elephant noises, play it backwards..."unleash your creative fire" all over it, as the website puts it — and then upload it back to the website. And then wait for your prize money.

Technically, only two people will win the top prize, one for Team Black and one for Team Green, the two factions of the Targaryen family who will fighting over the Iron Throne when House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and Max on Sunday, June 16. Those lucky two will win:

• An official release of their remix on WaterTower Music
• A one-year subscription to Beatport Studio
• A one-year subscription to Beatport Pro or Beatsource Pro Streaming
• 100 LabelRadar credits
• A $10,000 cash prize

I sorta glazed over everything until we got to "$10,000 cash prize," which is worth the wait.

There will also be four runner-ups chosen. They'll each receive a six-month Beatport Studio Subscription, a six-month subscription to Beatport Pro or Beatsource Pro Streaming, and 50 LabelRadar credits. No cash prize there.

The Beatport Presents House of the Dragon Remix Challenge is open to all right now! Entries will be accepted through May 29 at midnight. Contestants must live in the United States and be at least 18 years old. The winners will be announced on or about June 14, just a couple days before House of the Dragon officially returns on our TV screens. Seems like a fun idea for audiophiles, and maybe we'll get some memorable remixes out of it!
