Between playing Bormir in The Lord of the Rings and Ned Stark on Game of Thrones, Sean Bean is pretty much a genre movie saint (starring in the Sharpe series and the James Bond movie Goldeneye doesn't hurt either). It's always fun to catch up with him, particularly when he's being manhandled by a bouncer in a bar.
This incident happened earlier this week in the bar Tom Thumb, according to Metro. It had to do with Bean vaping indoors in violation of the bar's policy. "I was really surprised and pleased when I first looked up and saw him sitting there," one eyewitness said. "When the bouncer went over to him, I thought it was for a photo, but actually he was asking Bean to stop vaping in the bar. Sean kept saying he could do what he wanted. To be honest he was being a right a***hole. The bouncers were just doing what they do for everyone else – which is fair enough."
After that, Bean started to vape again. "They asked him to leave but he wouldn’t," the eyewitness continued. "He was just clinging onto his chair. I was so shocked by the fight I couldn’t move – my jaw just hit the floor. I was really saddened by his smugness. He really seemed to feel like he could do what he wanted."
There's also video of the incident, where Bean seems to be gently pulled towards the floor by someone, probably the bouncer:
For the record, the operator of the bar isn't holding a grudge. "This has all been blown out of proportion," they said. "Sean Bean behaved fine and is a great guy it was a misunderstanding. Sean Bean and the doorman shook hands outside the bar and Sean is welcome back anytime."
Sean Bean boards crime drama This City Is Ours
The 65-year-old Bean was in Liverpool to film This City Is Ours, a crime drama created and written by Stephen Butchard, who wrote the first three seasons of the historical drama The Last Kingdom for Netflix. Bean plays gang leader Ronnie Phelan, who is thinking of retiring just as a rival organization plans an attack.
There's no release date for This City Is Ours as of yet, but it'll eventually air on BBC One.
