When you watch television, what you see isn't always what you get. Is that actually famous actor Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen) jousting with Ser Criston Cole in HBO's House of the Dragon, or is it a stunt double in armor and a white-blonde wig? Who has time to look at the face with all that nuclear hair waving around?

I don't actually know about that scene in particular, but Matt Smith definitely has a stunt double on set. His name is Eduardo Gago and he's been in the business for years, doing stunts on everything from Pan's Labyrinth to The Chronicles of Narnia to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to several movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also worked on Game of Thrones, and now the prequel series. Check him out on set with Smith:

This picture looks like it was taken behind the scenes of Episode 3, "Second of His Name," where Daemon Targaryen takes on the Crabfeeder and his hordes of gurrilla fighters. Or they're posing so their picture can go on the side of a shampoo bottle, one of those.

It looks like Gago enjoys taking pictures with his famous coworkers. There's also a great one of him with Matt Damon on the set of The Last Duel. The both of them are wearing armor in this picture too, but their hair isn't the color of madness.

This year, Matt Smith filmed a whole new season of House of the Dragon. We don't know for sure if Gago will be back as his stunt double, but keep an eye out for them when new episodes start dropping on HBO and Max sometime in the summer of 2024.
