Shōgun wins big at Primetime Emmy Awards, as it should

Shōgun, The Bear, and Baby Reindeer all walk away from the Prime Emmys with 4 awards apiece.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards just aired on ABC, and things went about as expected. In other words, the excellent historical drama Shōgun won Best Drama Series; the caustic slice-of-life series The Bear won Best Comedy Series, since I guess it's a little more like a comedy than Shōgun; and the autobiographical stalker drama Baby Reindeer won Best Limited or Anthology Series.

Those three were the big winners of the night, with them each taking home four awards. Jeremy Allen White won Best Actor In A Comedy Series as expected, and his costar Ebon Moss-Bachrach won Best Supporting Actor. On the drama side, Hiroyuki Sanada won Best Actor and Anna Sawai won Best Actress; she was the one I was really invested in. She was magnificent as Mariko and if she hadn't won I would have been forced to write a strongly worded letter to whoever votes in these things. With red font.

The other show worth noting is the HBO comedy Hacks, which got Best Comedy Series over The Bear, which was slightly unexpected. Jean Smart also won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, which wasn't unexpected at all.
