Star Wars: The Bad Batch kicks off its final season with a bang
Star Wars: The Bad Batch review, Episode 304, "A Different Approach"
Crosshair and Omega's adventure takes center stage as they crash-land on a planet and find themselves in a shady spaceport. Crosshair of course wanted to shoot up the joint from the beginning but Omega's optimism gets in the way. The chemistry between these characters has been one of my favorite things this season and this episode will likely go down as having the best dialogue on that front.
To buy a pair of tickets to get them off-planet, Crosshair and Omega have to collect 30,000 credits. Omega wants to win the money through gambling, which is a nice call-back to previous seasons. When the crew embarked on missions Hunter deemed too dangerous for Omega, she would stay behind with Sid and gamble at her parlor, which ends up giving her the edge in this episode.
Unfortunately, Omega's hot streak attracts the attention of an Imperial Officer who figures out their true identities. Crosshair gets his wish and they end up shooting their way onto a cargo ship and getting away to reunite with Hunter and Wrecker.
Although not much happened from a big-picture standpoint, the Omega-Crosshair team-up is iconic and kept me entertained enough. Another mustache-twirling Imperial officer served as the villain, but I like how they gave him an Al Capone-esque design to go with his extortion racketeering.
The end of the episode is very emotional as Omega reunites with Hunter and Wrecker while they look at Crosshair with uncertainty. I'm eager to see how long it will take for Crosshair to convince them that he's on their side now. Omega will probably go to bat for him after all they went through. It will also be pretty sad when they break the news of Tech's death to him.
Episode Grade: B
