The first season of Wednesday, all about the youngest daughter of the Addams Family going to boarding school and creeping everyone out, was a massive hit for Netflix when it dropped back in 2022. Jenna Ortega, whose career was already on the rise beforehand, became a superstar, and everyone was doing that freaking dance:

The supporting cast was excellent, too, with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wednesday's mother Morticia, Luis Guzmán as her father Gomez, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Gwendoline Christie as the principal of Nevermore Academy and Christina Ricci — who played Wednesday in the Addams Family movies from the '90s — as a teacher. Now, Variety reports that a new A-lister is joining the show for its upcoming second season: Steve Buscemi.

From Reservoir Dogs to Fargo to Boardwalk Empire to The Big Lebowski to The Death of Stalin and well beyond, Steve Buscemi has proved his acting bona fides many times over. He can do drama, he can do comedy, he can do both at once. With his experience, sense of irony and characterful face, he should fit right into the cast of Wednesday.

According to Variety's sources, Buscemi will play the new principal of Nevermore Academy, after (SPOILERS INCOMING) Gwendoline Christie's principal character was killed in the first season. People die at Nevermore Academy all the time; it's basically Tim Burton's version of Hogwarts. As for when we'll see him in action, we still don't have a firm release date for season 2. Production was slowed down by the actors and writers strikes of 2023, but with casting afoot, at least we know things are moving.
