Take the Black: Is House of the Dragon season 2 better than season 1?

Now that House of the Dragon season 2 is at the halfway point, we give it a good hard look on our podcast. Also, George R.R. Maritn shares a non-update about The Winds of Winter.

Welcome to Take the Black, the live podcast where we talk all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books, although recently we've mostly been consumed by the second season of House of the Dragon. We're back in Westeros, the blood is flying and we couldn't be happier.

Now that the second season of the show is halfway done, we take a beat and ask the question: is this new season better than the first? And we come to different conclusions. Watch below!

We also find time to talk about Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin's latest blog storm, which includes a fresh non-update about The Winds of Winter, an actual update about that Game of Thrones play that's coming along, and some drama involving the World Science Fiction Convention.

And hey, there's even non-Game of Thrones-related news to touch on. To wit: the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is coming, but there are signs that people either interested or only interested in ways that are unlikely to please Mr. Bezos in his tower at Amazon. Also, I get caught up on the excellent Apple TV+ show Severance (how did fans last this long without getting to see the new season?) and we touch on the continually saga of mediocrity that is Star Wars: The Acolyte.

The Take the Black Podcast is on iTunes and YouTube Music! Please subscribe and download from there if you can. Also, you can help us out by giving us a five-star rating and leaving a friendly comment! We’re also now on Spreaker, so try us there, as well.

We stream new episodes of Take the Black every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. CST on the WinterIsComing YouTube and Facebook channels. And as long as the second season of House of the Dragon persists, we're also convening on Sunday nights right after the new episodes to break them down. Join us! We love responding to your comments live.
