The Boys star Valorie Curry (Firecracker) calls out rude fans at conventions

Most people are able to separate the art from the artist when watching a move or TV show. But over the years, it's become more and more evident that a minority of folks out there struggle to differentiate fact from fiction. The most recent actor to be treated wrongly at a Comic-Con is The Boys star Valorie Curry (Firecracker), who has called for "boundaries" after certain fans made her feel "uncomfortable."
Valorie Curry's Firecracker was a key character in The Boys season 4. Firecracker, a far right-wing Supe and devoted Starlight hater, seeks to win the favor of the oppressive, tyrannical Homelander (Anthony Starr), promising him sexual favors, among other things.
Following her explosive debut in The Boys season 4, Firecracker has become a fan-favorite, and actress Valorie Curry has been making appearances at numerous conventions. For the most part, she's enjoyed being surrounded by fans; “by and large everyone was fantastic," she said on her Instagram Story, adding that most fans have been "so lovely and so kind and so respectful."
However, there were a couple of people who made her feel uncomfortable, so much that Curry has felt the need to voice her desire for boundaries. “I know people saw a character that I played do some really extreme things on The Boys and I don't care if you're in costume, I don't care if you're in character – it's not OK and it's not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth. It’s not OK," she said.
"Frankly, to the person who did that repeatedly today, I made it pretty clear that it wasn't OK and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry. I didn't think this needed to be explained but I was deeply uncomfortable – it was quite clear I was uncomfortable."
Comic-Cons are meant to be fun events where everyone should feel welcome. Nobody should have to feel uncomfortable, not least of all the talent who meet hundreds of fans a day. While Curry intends to attend more conventions, she reveals that she's “not going to be able to do this if people are acting this way because it makes me so uncomfortable – and honestly, you should know better.” Be friendly, not weird!
As for The Boys, its gearing up for its fifth and final season. Expect to see Curry back in action as Firecracker onscreen sometime in 2026, when the final episodes will air on Prime Video.
