The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey "incredibly happy" with new cast members

The second season of HBO's new zombie apocallypse show The Last of Us is slated to enter production in early February 2024. The show will adapt the second game from Naughty Dog's video game series, which has a much larger scope and a more layered, wide-ranging story. Due to this, the team have enlisted the expertise of four elite directors. And the casting so far is very much on point.
One of the most important characters in The Last of Us Part II is Abby, a new character who finds herself in a very personal standoff with Ellie (Bella Ramsey), the scrappy survivor we met in the first season. The show has officially cast Emmy-nominated actor Kaitlyn Dever (Justified, Booksmart) as Abby. Other new arrivals include Isabel Merced (Dina) and Young Mazino (Jesse), who are two of Ellie's closest friends from the video game.
Needless to say, Bella Ramsey is very happy with the season 2 cast. "I’m incredibly happy with who has been cast," they told GamesRadar. "It’s exciting for me. I’m happy to have a whole new bunch of people come and join the family. It’s gonna be a lot of fun."
Bella Ramsey recalls her first meeting with The Last of Us costar Kaitlyn Dever
Speaking of Kaitlyn Dever's arrival, Ramsey recalled their first meeting back when Dever's casting was still being worked out. "I’ve met Kaitlyn once in the most stupid place [at] a gala," they said. However, their meeting was very brief. "I met Kaitlyn there very briefly when we were waiting for our cars. I knew they were talking to her about casting at that point, so it was just sort of quietly like ‘Hey’ and shared numbers and stuff."
"She’s excellent, Isabel and Young as well, I’m really excited to get going with all of them."
The Last of Us season 2 will commence production on February 14. HBO has not set a release date yet, but we can estimate that it will arrive sometime in 2025.
