The Legend of Vox Machina is based on a Dungeons & Dragons campaign mounted by the fine folks at Critical Role, a group of voice actors who live-stream themselves playing table-top role-playing games. Vox Machina was the first campaign they streamed, and the animated TV adaptation has been a big hit! It's returning for its third season in October, where our misfit band of mercenaries will continue to face off against the Chroma Conclave, a group of tyrannical dragons.
The third season of The Legend of Vox Machina will have 12 episodes, the same as seasons 1 and 2. The episodes will be released in groups of three, which is also consistent with how things were done in the first couple of seasons. The first three episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 will drop on Prime Video on October 3. We don't know any of the episode titles yet, but here's the full schedule:
- Episode 301: October 3
- Episode 302: October 3
- Episode 303: October 3
- Episode 304: October 10
- Episode 305: October 10
- Episode 306: October 10
- Episode 307: October 17
- Episode 308: October 17
- Episode 309: October 17
- Episode 310: October 24
- Episode 311: October 24
- Episode 312: October 24
Personally, I wish Prime Video would space these out a little more; it almost seems a waste to produce 12 episodes of TV only to burn through them in a month. Even if they released two episodes at once, that would allow us to spend a little more time with these characters.
But the show has been entertaining from the start, so I won't complain too much. Cast members Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham are all expected to return. Later, Critical Role's second campaign, The Mighty Nein, will also get turned into an animated series on Prime Video.
