The Legend of Vox Machina will feature one of Lance Reddick's final acting roles

Lance Reddick passed last year, but he still has several projects yet to come out, including his return as Thordak the Cinder King in The Legend of Vox Machina.

The Legend of Vox Machina, based on the Dungeons & Dragons campaign put on by the thespians at Critical Role, will drop its third season next month, and excitement is high. The show has proved a fun, bloody romp that does indeed feel a little like getting together with your buddies and pretending to be elves and dwarves and archers and whatnot. It goes down easy.

On a more serious note, the third season will feature one of the final performances from actor Lance Reddick, famous for his roles in the John Wick movies and on The Wire. Reddick also voiced Thordak the Cinder King, the leader of the tyrannical band of dragons known as the Chroma Conclave. Reddick died of heart disease in March of 2023, and fans were unsure if he was in Vox Machina season 3. However, he showed up in the trailer, so now we know that he'll get to hear him perform on the show this last time.

Speaking on the Discord server for Critical Role's streaming service Beacon, Vox Machina cast member Sam Riegel confirmed that Reddick recorded all of his lines for the third season before he passed, meaning the show didn't have to recast him, per Gamerant. In fact, Reddick still has several projects he worked on before his death that have yet to be released. After Vox Machina in season 3 comes out, we can look forward to seeing him in the post-apocalyptic movie St. Sebastian, the sci-fi thriller Apteros, and the John Wick spinoff movie Ballerina.

Reddick was a prolific actor who never gave anything less than his best. I'm glad he'll get this send-off in The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, which will premiere on Prime Video on October 3.
