The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon creator confirms season 3 episode count

The Walking Dead may be over, but the franchise continues to find great success through its slate of spinoffs. Two sequel shows, Dead City and Daryl Dixon, were promptly renewed for more seasons, and the future of the Walking Dead universe looks bright.
Later this year, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol, will premiere. The sophomore season will mark the triumphant return of fan-favorite Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), who meets with Daryl in his new home at Mont Saint-Michel in France. Reedus has spent plenty of time rhapsodizing about the new season, even revealing that it has the single "best hour of Walking Dead ever." Watch the trailer:
Despite season 2 not even being out yet, fans are already hyping up the third installment. We can't help but look to the future, I suppose. There's good reason for it, though, because season 3 will expand both Daryl and Carol's adventures to entirely new territory. That's right — they'll find themselves on the sunny shores of Spain. Scott M. Gimple, who oversees the franchise, is very excited by the prospect of seeing how the show fares in Spain. Gimple said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter:
"There’s still so much ahead to unpack in France for the coming season two and a breathtaking finale. And now Spain! I already know that David Zabel’s storytelling is making the most of all that is so beautiful and unique to Spain. We start shooting there in just a few weeks… such excitement looking forward!"

Further details on the third season are scarce, but showrunner David Zabel recently confirmed that the show will continue its six-episode seasons. When asked by Collider about how many episodes season 2 will have, he confirmed: "Season 3 will be six."
As for how many seasons Daryl Dixon will air in total, Zabel doesn't have a strict plan in place. "We're certainly thinking ahead to what comes after that in season 4, but we don't have a grand plan beyond that. I don't know if the series is going to be four seasons or six seasons or anything like that," he said.
The next chapter of The Walking Dead Universe premieres September 29 on AMC.
