Following the conclusion of the mothership show in 2022, The Walking Dead Universe is now fully reliant on spinoff projects to carry the story forward. These sequel shows continue to follow popular characters, from Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). They also take us to fresh new locations; look no further than Daryl Dixon's adventures in France.
The Daryl Dixon show took The Walking Dead across the pond to Europe. In the beginning of the series, Daryl washes up on French shores and wanders the desolate landscape, trying to find a way back home. He eventually finds a community and gets caught up in a quest, becoming attached to Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) and Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi). By the end, he decides against taking a ship back to the United States, favoring his new home in Mont Saint-Michel.
In season 2, Daryl will no longer be the only Walking Dead veteran in the show. As teased in the end of season 1, Carol (Melissa McBride) will reunite with him. The iconic duo is getting back together! In fact, AMC has even subtitled season 2 The Book of Carol. Read the official season 2 synopsis:
"The new season picks up where The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon left off, following fan-favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier (McBride). They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension at the Nest. Additionally, Genet (Anne Charrier)’s movement builds momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France's future."
In a recent announcement, AMC revealed that Daryl Dixon season 2, The Book of Carol, will premiere on September 29, 2024:
Along with the premiere date, AMC revealed two new stills from the new season. Firstly, we see Daryl holding a shotgun, looking cool as always:
And the second is of Carol, ever the badass:
September 29 can't come quickly enough. Especially given that there's no other Walking Dead shows out this summer. The content is slowing down, but it's not going away. We'll wait, impatiently.
