Very sad Aegon and other shiny new House of the Dragon images from season 2
By Dan Selcke
The second season of House of the Dragon is nearly here, and HBO has been blitzing us with promos. Today, ahead of the weekend, we have a cache of glossy new images that have actually been around for a few days, but we just got hold of official versions of them and they're pretty so look at them:
This is a gorgeous picture. It's Rhaenyra Targaryen with her two young sons Viserys and Aegon, not to be confused with her dead father Viserys or her treacherous half-brother Aegon. I love the composition and the play of light and shadow.
Speaking of Aegon the Elder, here he is looking weary beyond words. Methinks this picture is from the aftermath of the Blood and Cheese incident.
Meanwhile, Aegon's mother Alicent and younger brother Aemond walk the ramparts of the Red Keep in King's Landing. If you remember, Aemond killed his nephew Lucerys at the end of season 1, sparking a war between Aegon and Rhaenyra for the Iron Throne. And I doubt he'll feel bad about it. Alicent is probably thinking that she needs to hide all the forks in the palace.
Back on Team Rhaenyra, Corlys Velaryon — the head of House Velaryon and the richest man in the realm — is hanging out with Alyn of Hull, with whom he has a close relationship. I'll say no more, but the information is out there.
Finally, we've got Rhaenyra's son Jace hanging out with newcomer Lord Cregan Stark at the Wall. Nostalgia is coming.
And as a bonus, here's a spiffy new poster:
The second season of House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and Max on Sunday, June 16.
