The second season premiere of House of the Dragon is mere days away, and the hype is everywhere. Cast member are going on talk shows to promote the series, and they're bringing new clips along with them. Let's watch!

First up is a clip of Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) in bed with his wife Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best). They both support Rhaenyra Targaryen's (Emma D'Arcy) claim to the Iron Throne, but Corlys is worried about Rhaenyra's husband Daemon (Matt Smith), who seems volatile in the wake of the death of his brother King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and the resultant war of succession:

"I mistrust his silence. Daemon flies when we most need his hand at the oar," Corlys says. "Devotion has never sat well with him," Rhaenys replies.

So how is Daemon doing? He gets his own clip where he's talking to Erryk Cargyll (Elliott Tittensor), a knight of the Kingsguard who fled from King's Landing when the Greens were taking over in the first season to devote himself to Rhaenyra. As things stand now, Rhaenyra's younger brother Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) sits the Iron Throne, but Rhaenyra believes she has a better claim and she intends to fight for it. Things are tense, and Daemon thinks Erryk should have done more to stop the coup when he had the chance:

Erryk left behind his twin brother Arryk Cargyll (Luke Tittensor), who is also a member of the Kingsguard. Arryk chose to support King Aegon while Erryk is behind Queen Rhaenyra. War tears apart families; don't do it. "Arryk and I were named to the Kingsguard at just eight and 10, and we swore the same oath: to defend the whole of the royal family," Erryk says. "So what were we to do when they turned against one another?"

Speaking of King Aegon, he was forced onto the Iron Throne by his mother Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and grandfather Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), both of whom think they're the power behind the throne. But apparently Aegon is taking to the role more than they expected. In the clip below, Alicent thinks they just need to "mind" him until the novelty of ruling wears off, at which point they can steer their side towards victory against Rhaneyra and her followers:

Victory, Otto reminds Alicent, is going to involve a lot of violence. "I know it, but that does not mean it must be wanton," Alicent says. Is she fooling herself? We'll find out when House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on HBO on Sunday, June 16.
