Tonight, the House of the Dragon season 2 finale airs on HBO and Max, bringing the sophomore season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series to an end. Armies have assembled, and now they march to war. As for us viewers, we begin the long wait for season 3, which will likely air sometime in 2026.

But if the prospect of waiting two years to return to Westeros fills you with despair, don't worry. HBO released a sizzle reel ahead of the House of the Dragon finale which contained the very first footage of a brand new Game of Thrones spinoff: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Based on the Dunk & Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin, this one sees a stalwart knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire Egg go on adventures, some 90 years before Game of Thrones. It should be an altogether lighter and more fun time than the Shakespearean tragedy tone of House of the Dragon, though not without its own bits of betrayal and danger as well.

The official Max X account took all the footage of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms from the sizzle reel and compiled it into one nice little teaser. Check it out:

There's a lot of exciting stuff in there, like Dunk gearing up for battle, Egg roasting a fish by the fire, Dunk entering his name in the lists and more. This six-episode season will adapt The Hedge Knight, the first novella in the series, which details how Dunk becomes a proper knight during the tourney at Ashford Meadow. Gear up for a good time!

Thanks to that teaser, we can also take a closer look at some specific images. Here's actor Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg:

So while we'll be waiting for House of the Dragon for a bit, we'll get to go back to Westeros again next year to tide us over. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres sometime in 2025. And beyond that, HBO also has a number of other Game of Thrones spinoffs in various states of development as well:
