It's been a minute since Netflix dropped Wednesday, its Tim Burton-helmed spinoff off The Addams Family starring Jenna Ortega as a teenaged Wednesday Addams, but did the hype ever truly die down? The first season of Wednesday blew past all expectations when it premiered in 2022, breaking Stranger Things season 4's record for the most minutes viewed in a single week and becoming one of the most-watched shows in the streamer's history. Netflix was quick to renew it for a second season, but with last year's dual Hollywood strikes, it's been slow in coming.

But production is moving right along! Last week was Geeked Week, which meant Netflix dropped tons of teasers and announcements for all its biggest shows. That includes Wednesday, which debuted a first look video that took fans behind the scenes on season 2. Check it out:

Wednesday season 2 first look

Wednesday season 2 will see Wednesday return to Nevermore Academy, the spooky boarding school where she did her absolute best to avoid making friends during the first season. That didn't pan out, with some of Wednesday's classmates worming their way into her heart regardless. We see plenty of Ortega and her castmates in this video, including Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzman (Gomez Addams), Emma Mysers (Enid Sinclair), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams) and Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay). We also see Tim Burton behind the camera, along with plenty of wide sweeping shots of the school and grounds to get us excited.

In addition to the cast members listed above, Wednesday season 2 will also feature Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin), and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

Burton and Ortega are hard at work on Wednesday season 2 right now, but they've also got a movie out together: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the iconic 1988 horror-comedy film. Like Wednesday, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been a smash hit that is making records, including bringing in the highest opening day box office earnings of any movie in Burton's career. Ortega and Burton feel like a perfect fit for each other's particular style, so hopefully this is the beginning of a long collaboration between the two.

For now, we'll be waiting a bit longer for Wednesday season 2. It's slated to release sometime in 2025.
