Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) is still having weird visions in the latest episode of House of the Dragon. He's in the massive castle of Harrenhal, which we're told has been cursed since the first stone was laid. Harren the Black just had to destroy a grove a weirwood trees, which were sacred to the Children of the Forest and the First Men. Now Daemon is sleeping in a bed made from cursed wood; no wonder he's seeing things.

The episode opened with another appearance by Milly Alcock, who played young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first half of season 1. Daemon is clearly still working through his ambivalent feelings towards her; does he love her or does he just want her because it puts him closer to the Iron Throne? And later, Daemon sees himself wearing an eyepatch, drawing a parallel between himself and his nephew Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), Daemon's biggest stan.

Daemon's visions bother him even when awake. In one scene, he's talking with a visiting Blackwood lord and sees his dead wife, Laena Velaryon, walking around the room pouring drinks. This ends up just being an ordinary servant, but Daemon is clearly rattled.

You may recall that Daemon married Laena in the first season. She's the mother of Daemon's two daughters: Baela (Bethany Antonia) and Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell), and the previous rider of the dragon Vhagar before Aemond claimed her for himself. We only saw what their married life was like for one episode; Daemon and Laena settled in the Free City of Pentos and lived there for years, but Laena died in childbirth. Knowing the end was near, she begged for Vhagar to burn her, which she did:

Laena was played by Nova Foueillis-Mosé as a child, by Savannah Steyn as a teenager and by Nanna Blondell as an adult; it's Blondell who's returned to haunt Daemon. It's hinted on the show that their marriage wasn't entirely happy; Daemon may have been nursing affection for Rhaenyra the whole time, or maybe affection for her claim to the Iron Throne. Which brings us back to the ambivalence that's driving these visions in the first place.
