Wynonna Earp will return for one last hurrah on Tubi on September 13

Wynonna Earp is one of those shows that never became hugely popular but that had a fiercely devoted fanbase for its entire run. Armed with her special gun Peacemaker, it's Wynonna's job to send reincarnated criminals called revenants back to hell. She did that for four straight seasons on Syfy, but still has unfinished business. She'll close the final chapter in Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, a 90-minute special dropping on Tubi on Friday, September 13. So very soon! Watch the trailer below:

“The past is never that far behind us, and some of it might be showing up looking for vengeance, so to speak, in the special,” creator Emily Andras teased to Entertainment Weekly, putting that writer's brain to good use with some colorful verbiage. “The heart, the laugh-out-loud wit and action-packed sequences that were always a part of the series are still in the special. This cast has not missed a step. It’ll make you cry, it’ll make you laugh. It might make you throw up a little bit. It is Earping at the Earpiest it’s ever been.”

Star Melanie Scrofano weighed in as well. For her part, she never believed that the show was truly over, so this special is a long-awaited homecoming. In a way that's literal, as it's set in Wynonna's fictional hometown of Purgatory, Canada. "[T]he second I put on the jacket and Peacemaker and was around the people—it’s really the crew and the cast that bring her out of me. We just slipped back into it,” she said.

Both Scrofano and Andras teased a terrifying villain on the horizon, hopefully one befitting on Wynonna's final bow. I wasn't intimately familiar with the show when it was on, but I know it had a lot of passionate fans and I hope this special gives the story the sendoff they're hoping for. It's nice for a series to get a second chance, especially given we so often hear about series getting canceled before their time.

And Tubi is a good place for the special, as it's a free streaming service; you won't need to pay any subscription fees, although there are short ad breaks throughout all the movies and shows on the platform. Hopefully there aren't too many interruptions. In any case, the low bar of entry means that Wynonna Earp: Vengeance stands a chance of getting a ton of eyeballs on it possible.
