You can now watch Dune: Part Two at home (but not yet on Max)
By Dan Selcke
Dune: Part Two opened in theaters on March 1 and went on to make nearly $700 million at the box office, and it's still going. The conclusion to the story of how Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) got revenge for the murder of his father by the hated Hakonnens made for good viewing. Bring on Dune: Part Three.
The studio behind the Dune movies, Warner Bros. Discovery, has a policy of making movies available for home viewing around 45 days after the open in theaters, and so it goes with Dune: Part Two, which is now available to rent or buy through Amazon, iTunes, Fandango and the Microsoft Store. You can buy a digital copy for $29.99 or rent it for $24.99, which doesn't seem like nearly enough of a price drop considering you'll only have access to it for 48 hours. The movie is still in theaters; going to see it on the big screen would be cheaper.
If you're hoping to stream the movie on Max — the streaming services operated by Warner Bros. Discovery — for no extra cost beyond the subscription cost you're already paying, you're out of luck. The movie isn't yet available to stream on Max, although WBD CEO David Zaslav said that it should be available there sometime this spring, per Forbes. Spring lasts through June 20, so expect it on Max sometime before then.
Meanwhile, a physical version of Dune: Part Two will be available on May 14, and looks to cost about as much as renting it for 48 hours does. Frankly, I think your best bet financially is going to see the movie in the theater or getting the physical version when it comes out. At least then your $25 will go towards something you can keep.
