This article contains SPOILERS for Talamasca: The Secret Order Episode 3.

Talamasca: The Secret Order Episode 103, "The Task at Hand," gives us more intrigue and questions with regards to the Talamascan role in the world and the lives of its members. Guy Anatole questions their intentions and begins to view his medication with suspicion.

The base Talamascan house/library in Amsterdam goes up in flames, taking centuries of research with it. Investigations by Guy and the police into the deaths of Kevis and Archie (who were murdered in episode 2) are revealing. It turns out she was a witch spy and Archie followed her. Both bodies had less blood loss than expected, and puncture wounds on the neck.

Helen informs Guy about a missing book which may or may not exist. Apparently most people don’t believe in it, yet everyone’s searching for it. Okay, that’s odd to me. It’s rumored to contain a kind of codex to all Talamascan knowledge. Guy remembers seeing a book in Kevis’ backpack. He wants to find out if it’s the codex called 7-5-2, or just a scrapbook as her witch friend claimed.

Helen goes back to a dilapidated and abandoned hospital in the countryside. We learn, along with Guy, about how she spent time there with other Talamascan children. The staff experimented on them. Perhaps that’s why she doesn’t find the order’s control over Guy’s childhood alarming…it’s a normal occurrence to her.

Guy confronts Helen about events and people he learned were kept from him. Understandably, he’s upset. She gives him some answers and more questions.

Guy shows up at the London Talamascan House, which he found out is compromised. We learn a bit about how that happened and get a glimpse into the underground dungeons used to house vampire victims. Oh, did I mention it’s a vampire running the London house? Guy meets with him and makes a pact. What we don’t know is if he intends to work against the Talamasca or if he came to take on the vampire, Jaspar, as Helen told him to.

There are a few things which don’t add up or are unnecessary. Guy takes a phone call from the job he was hired at in New York City. However, he never did go into work at all for this job. I’d expect them to release him at this point...especially since he displayed some hutzpah at the interview preventing them from dismissing him outright.

He’s been popping a blue prescription pill from the beginning and only now questions taking them. Once he determined how much control the order has over his life, he should’ve come to that conclusion sooner. I did.

Multiple characters complain about being lied to and, yeah, it seems all sides lie constantly. It makes determining which ones you consider the ‘good guys’ rather difficult.

It’s my hope plot events will settle in now. We are seeing bits of magical effects. More would be incredible. It would also be nice for more action other than characters following each other around. We have seen a few bits. Like Billy Idol, I’m crying, “More! More! More!”
