Singer Lily Allen and Stranger Things actor David Harbour married in 2019. Recently, rumors have arisen that they've split, and the story they're spinning is extremely dramatic. According to "sources" at The Daily Mail, Lily Allen had suspected her husband of looking for women to data on Raya, a dating app for celebrities, which is how the two of them met in the first place. She allegedly made a fake profile and cross-referenced women on Raya with women Harbour followed on Instagram. According to the rumor, the couple broke up about a month before Christmas.
Is any of this true? I have no idea; neither Allen nor Harbour have addressed it. The Daily Mail did dig up a Raya profile for a 49-year-old actor named David who likes Led Zeppelin, and that could be Harbour...but maybe not, there's no accompanying photo.
What always gets me about these kinds of situations is the "sources" involved. Let's say that what The Daily Mail reported is true. That means that someone in Lily Allen's life is a good enough friend to be privy to details about her private life, but a sucky enough friend to then go to the tabloids and tell them everything they know, ensuring that Allen's personal business is dragged out in public. Who are these people?
Anyway, while Allen hasn't addressed this situation direction, she did sound like she's having a rough time on the latest episode of her Miss Me? podcast, which she cohosts with Miquita Oliver. “I’m finding it hard to be interested in anything,” Allen said after the 2025 Golden Globes came up. “I’m really not in a good place.”
"I know I’ve been talking about it for months, but I’ve been spiraling and spiraling and spiraling and it’s got out of control...I tried. I mean, I came to the Christmas lunch, the ‘Miss Me?’ Christmas lunch, and I had a panic attack and had to go home. I went to see something at the theater the other night with my [friends] Carlo and Claire, and I had to leave at halftime...I just can’t concentrate on anything except the pain that I’m going through. It’s really, really hard."
Allen said she's stepping back from the podcast for a while, which sounds like a good idea. “What I do want to reassure people because there will be speculation because of the amount of time that I’m going to be taking away that I’m going to drug rehab — I’m not,” she said. “I’ve not relapsed. I know there have been some horrible blind items on the internet about me being found by my husband in a crack den being surrounded by men. I don’t know who’s spreading these vicious rumors but that’s not true.”
It seems more likely that Allen is taking time off to spend time with her daughters Ethel and Marnie, whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper. “I can say, it’s really tough. They are always there and you have to be present and there for them. And that’s okay,” she said. “When things in life are going well and you’re coping, it’s really nice to have the kids around. They’re a joy to be around and one of the main sources of joy in one’s life.”
Maybe Allen is taking time off because of a situation with Harbour, maybe it's for something else. I don't know, but the rumor train has left the station it's impossible to turn it around. Hopefully the situation improves for her.
As for Harbour, he'll be starring in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things on Netflix sometime later this year. Who knows where the rumor will be at then?
