It seems May 8 will be quite an exciting day for Outlander fans! Not only will we be getting a brand new episode of season 8 with the release of the penultimate episode of the series, but we’ll also be getting a brand new romantic project led by Sam Heughan that same day.

As first reported by Cosmopolitan, Heughan is the latest star who has partnered with Quinn to bring fans a new audio project that will see Outlander’s leading man tackling a modern-day romantic audio series. Heughan has been cast as the lead for Three Days in Galloway, a three-episode audio series from Quinn that is definitely evoking shades of Outlander

This new audio will see Heughan playing Callum MacKay, a groundskeeper of a Scottish estate turned luxury wellness retreat. That's right, Heughan is about to play yet another Scottish heartthrob in a story that is honestly perfectly tailored for Outlander fans.

While there is no time travel involved in Three Days in Galloway, the story centers around a sweeping love story that begins when Callum is reunited with his former love, Olivia, at the retreat, giving him a second chance with the one who got away. Here's the full synopsis provided by Quinn:

“Fifteen years ago, he fell in love with Olivia, a British princess working in Glasgow for a summer placement. Fast-forward to the present. Olivia has arrived at the estate to celebrate her best friend’s hen do. When she comes face-to-face with the man she hasn’t seen in years, the complicated reality of her royal life begins to unravel and Callum’s peaceful routine is upended by the one who got away. As Callum and Olivia spend three days together in Galloway, they are forced to confront whether they are still the same people who fell in love all those years ago, and if they ever, truly, fell out of love.”

Nicolette Chin (Olivia), Sarah Whitehouse (Imogen), and the iconic Quinn Creator ‘The Scotsman’ (Hamish) will round out the cast of the audio series which is the first-ever multi-cast Quinn Original. Look at Heughan out here making history!

With the first episode of Three Days in Galloway dropping the same day as Outlander season 8, episode 9, fans are certainly going to have plenty of content to enjoy following the show's "skip week" which kept the series off Starz's schedule on the first Friday of the month. This is honestly a perfect project for fans to enjoy and its release could not be more perfectly timed as it gives Outlander fans a new project to enjoy as they savor the final episodes, or one they can chose to enjoy after the series finale of Outlander has aired.

Personally, I might opt to save the series for after the Outlander series finale as it's always nice to be able to have a new project to look forward to once a beloved show wraps. Three Days in Galloway is the perfect follow-up to Outlander, giving us the chance to enjoy Heughan in a new project from the romantic genre and fill the void we feel once Outlander's final episode has aired and Claire and Jamie's story has come to an end.

Thankfully, Heughan is staying booked and busy!

Not only will he be starring in Quinn's new romantic audio series this May, but he's also set to star in the new Prime Video political thriller Embassy which is set to release later this year. The series will definitely be a bit of a departure from his Outlander role, but we're eager to see Heughan back on our screens and hope to see much more of him in the years ahead in new projects.
