The world of A Court of Thorns and Roses just got a little bigger because we finally know what the next two ACOTAR books are called.

Sarah J. Maas had fans theorizing that today would be the day after she wiped her Instagram last night. Now she's revealed that the two novels will be named A Court of Splintered Harmony and A Court of Forgotten Melody. You can check out the covers below:

A Court of Splintered Harmony releases on Oct. 27, 2026, and A Court of Forgotten Melody will release not that long after, on Jan. 12, 2027.

As expected, fans are thrilled about the news, making the two Instagram posts go viral. At the time of this writing, both have amassed over 400,000 likes each and counting.

These covers and titles differ from Maas’ previous novels in a couple of ways. First, the typical format has changed. Where most of Maas’ other ACOTAR novels have been “A Court of (Blank) and (Blank),” this is the second (and third) time we’ve gotten a full sentence with no “and.” The first was A Court of Silver Flames. Second, the colors are vastly different.

In previous covers, the background has often been just one color — red, green, pink, blue, or orange. These two new novels are almost a mix of colors that blend into a nice ombre effect, making for a pleasant departure from previous releases.

The plots of both novels have been kept tightly under wraps. No one knows yet exactly who these next stories will follow, but we do know they will have something to do with the Valkyries. For those who need a reminder, the Valkyries in the universe of A Court of Thorns and Roses are an ancient group of female warriors, and Nesta rebuilds them alongside her companions, Gwyneth Berdara and Emerie, who have both gone through their fair share of trauma.

Both covers reference this directly: the first has a subheader that says The Valkyrie Cycle: Movement I, and the second says The Valkyrie Cycle: Movements II and III.

This is quite interesting, as fans have often speculated that the next ACOTAR novels would focus on the last of the Archeron sisters, Elain. She’s been a secondary character for some time, with one of her biggest attributes being her Seer ability. Though she has had a few memorable moments, like helping deliver the fatal blow to the Hybern king, she’s mostly been placed in the background.

With this in mind, it makes me wonder if these next two books could focus on her, connecting her with the subheader “The Valkyrie Cycle.” We know both books will tell the same story, with the second novel, which releases in January, serving as a continuation of the first. We also know that a third new novel will be released at some point in the future. But is this going to focus at all on Elain’s story, or are we going to dig deeper into the stories of Gwyneth and Emerie? Or is Elain going to utterly shock me and become a Valkyrie herself?

Many fans have also speculated that while Elain will be a star of a story, she won’t be the one who ends up with Azriel. There’s a pretty strong theory that Azriel might end up with Gwyneth, as there have been context clues throughout the last book, A Court of Silver Flames, as well as their past (since he saved her from a horrible situation).

This really does make me curious about where the heck this story is going, and I’m just waiting for the synopsis for both books to drop. For now, I’ll look at the pretty covers in awe. Can October get here any sooner? Time to read some other romantasy books in the meantime.
