The fifth and final season of The Boys is in production, and we know because the cast is sharing images from behind the scenes. A new one shared by star Jack Quaid is making the rounds. It shows Quaid's character, Hughie, absolutely soaked in blood giving the camera a big old grin and a cheery thumbs up. So business as usual:

Traumatizing Hughie is a treasured tradition on The Boys, and I wouldn't expect a final season that didn't soak him head to toe in blood at least a couple times.

And there should be plenty of opportunities. The fourth season of The Boys ended with the psychopathic superhero Homelander basically installed as the shadow president of the United States. One of the first things he did was dispatch supes to nab Hughie and several other members of the Boys. The only ones to evade capture were Starlight, aka Annie January (Erin Moriarty), and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban).

As for where Hughie and others might be taken, there are behind-the-scenes images floating around on Reddit that show a bus bearing smiling, cartoonish likenesses of Homelander, Black Noir and Firecracker, all members of Homelander's new superhero supremacist squad. The text on the bus reads, "Follow me to Freedom Camps." It looks like Homelander might build his own concentration camps where he tosses in the Boys, his enemies, and non-superpowered people who just look at him funny. The fifth season will be dark indeed, and with that twist of edgy, goofy humor the show has become known for.

To end on a lighter note, Erin Moriarty also posted some behind-the-scenes photos a while back. They don't reveal anything about the plot, but if you click through a few of the images, you will see Moriarty walking her dog around the set. She and the dog are both dressed in matching cheetah-print coats. This is worth seeing.

The fifth and final season of The Boys won't drop until sometime in 2026. However, if you want more sociopathic superhero action in the meantime, Prime Video will air the second season of the spinoff series Gen V later this year.
