When casting for The Batman Part II, director Matt Reeves set his sights on one Marvel Cinematic Universe star in the form of Scarlett Johansson. And now, Johansson's Marvel co-star Sebastian Stan is reportedly also entering Gotham City. As for who he's playing, well, your guess is as good as ours.
Sebastian Stan is best known for his portrayal of Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and will return as Bucky in Avengers: Doomsday later this year. His schedule might be a little packed with upcoming flicks like Let the Devil Go West, Reckless, and Ruins — but he's still got time to star in Matt Reeves' long-awaited sequel, The Batman Part II.
The news of this casting comes from Variety. While the report confirms Stan's involvement in the project, there's no word on who he's playing, but fans seem to have their minds up. As soon as the news broke on X, fans had only one character in their minds: Harvey Dent/Two-Face. "i just saw a tiktok about sebastian stan as harvey dent and YEEES," one fan wrote. Another posted: "Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent is as perfect and incredible as Robert Pattinson is as Batman."
There's perhaps a little truth buried in the rumours, however. According to one report from The InSneider, Stan has been cast as Dent. But of course, we'll put this down as mere speculation until something a little more substantial comes along.

In addition to Stan and Johansson, the core cast will return for the sequel. This includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Moreover, Barry Keoghan is expected to reprise his role as the Joker, having only made the briefest of cameos in the first movie. All things considered, that's one hell of a cast — and an expensive one at that.
The upcoming sequel will begin filming in England in the coming months. It will continue to use the gothic architecture of Liverpool and Glasgow for external shots and backdrops of Gotham City. The bulk of filming takes place at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden.
The Batman Part II is expected to premiere in October 2027, so in other words, it's still many moons away. In the meantime, the question now is simple: Who would you cast Sebastian Stan as in The Batman Part II?
