The most recent episode of The Last of Us wrecked fans all over the world. (Last chance to avoid SPOILERS.) Joel (Pedro Pascal) is dead, murdered by Abby (Kaitlyn Dever). Abby wanted revenge for Joel killing her father in the season 1 finale, and she got it. Now, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) is about to go on a revenge quest of her own.
But first, there's grieving to do. HBO has released several new images from this Sunday's new episode of The Last of Us, and predictably, they are very sad. Let's start with Ellie, who is recovering after witnessing Joel's brutal death:

We also get two images of her sitting by what looks like Joel's gravesite. If there was anyone out there who thought that Joel might somehow survive, it looks like this is the nail in the coffin:

Joel's brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna) is bereft as well. This next shot looks like it's taken in the immediate aftermath of the huge zombie attack on the town of Jackson, with the bodies of dead townsfolk on the tables:

It looks like this next episode might skip forward in time? Why do I think that? Because the first two episodes of the season were set during the dead of winter, with everyone wrapped up in bulky winter clothing. But below, Tommy is rocking his forearms:

Dina (Isabela Merced) is still bundled up, although I don't see any of the snow that was everywhere in the first two episodes:

Like Ellie, Dina was present during Joel's murder, although she was knocked out. They have a lot to talk about:

Finally, we have several shots of what looks like a town meeting. One of their citizens was brutally murdered and the whole settlement was wrecked by a horde of infected. I imagine there's a lot on this agenda.

The town of Jackson is run by a council, and both Tommy and his wife Maria (Rutina Wesley) are on it:

Jesse (Young Mazino) is a new addition to the council:

HBO hasn't unveiled the title of the next episode, but it airs this Sunday night on HBO and Max!
