Tonight, Netflix opened its Tudum celebration by hyping up Squid Game, its Korean-language drama where desperate people are manipulated into playing children's games to death in hopes of winning a life changing amount of money. Squid Game is one of Netflix's most-watched shows of all time, and next month it will drop its third and final season. It's a big deal for the streamer, and so this was a perfect way to kick off the event.

At least, the trailer was a perfect way. Before we got there, Netflix opened the show with a bunch of Squid Game guards doing a dance number on stage before rapper Hanumankind came out to spice things up. It was...well, it was something. Then stars Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun (the Front Man), Yim Si-wan (Myung-gi Lee), Kang Ae-sim (Jang Geum-ja), and Choi Seung-Hyun (Thanos) came out to introduce the trailer.

The second season of Squid Game saw former Squid Game winner Seong Gi-hun returning to the games in hopes of overthrowing the powers behind them. By the end of the season, he led an uprising to try and do just that, but it failed spectacularly. Squid Game season 3 will pick up right where season 2 left off. Check out the latest trailer:

This Squid Game trailer starts with the big question I've had since the end of season 2: how and why was Seong Gi-hun allowed to live after his failed rebellion? This question haunts him, and no one is willing to give him the answer. But we can bet it has something to do with the Front Man wanting to prove a point to Gi-hun after their philosophical debates last season.

The trailer also shows off a few of the new games, including one where contestants have to play jump rope on a narrow catwalk with a deadly drop to either side. We get glimpses of a lot of the previous contestants who made it out of season 2, like Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon) and Kim Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), but who will survive season 3? The body count was extremely high during season 1, so I'd bet on quite a few of them biting the dust before all's said and done.

Squid Game season 3 premieres June 27 on Netflix.
